Welcome! I’m Alyssa — a native of the Midwest and, happily, a visitor to lots of other places. I’m an avid reader, a proud dog owner, and a lover of all things related to food.

Where do you live?

Over the past few years, I have called a number of US states “home” — Ohio, Indiana, Missouri, Illinois, and Michigan (a true Tour de Midwest!) In 2015, I lived on a farm in rural Hawaii. I currently live and work at a cooking school in the heart of Sicily.

Where does the name “tuesday42” come from?

tuesday42@hotmail.com was the first email address of my best childhood friend. Her older brother (an idol to all of us pre-teen girls) came up with the address, which I thought was the coolest.

What does that have to do with this blog?

The blog started as a way to create a personalized cookbook for Tuesday (nickname of my email-address-possessing childhood friend). At the time, she had just joined a produce delivery service and was met each week with a selection of fruits and vegetables that she didn’t always recognize, let alone know what to do with. Tuesday would tell me what had been delivered in her weekly produce bin and I would come up with ideas for how she could prepare meals with those items.

Aside from being a miniature living cookbook, tuesday42.com is a place for me to write about my life, my travels, and the things I’m thinking or reading.
